About us

We are Bnieuws, the independent, student-run platform and monthly periodical for the whole Faculty of Architecture and the Built Environment of TU Delft. As a student run platform funded by the faculty, we aim to represent the diverse written output, ideation, and dialogue within and at the faculty. As such, within our thematic publications, our contributions are critical and explorative, with texts and images relating often to our own faculty but at all times to some aspect of the built environment; be it landscape, architecture, or urbanism.

We believe ourselves to be the voice of the faculty, and our motto is ‘Your voice is our voice’. In order to accomplish this we collaborate closely with other student associations within the faculty, such as BouT, Polis, and also The Berlage among others. We also however have an open list of independent guest writers, or Penpals, which includes students, staff members and alumni of the faculty. It is these students, staff, and associations for whom we do our best to ensure that their research, knowledge, and ideas can be disseminated throughout the faculty, and now with this website, throughout the world at large!

Emilie Stecher

Master in Urbanism

Emilie Stecher

Hey there, my name is Emilie! I’m currently doing my masters in Urbanism. Since I moved from the Austrian Alps to Rotterdam, a city below sea-level, my interest in climate change and climate activism got stronger every day. Next to thinking about scenarios for the Netherlands in a +3m sea-level rise I love to explore the invisible parts of the city and its people. Especially the modernistic and hard-working harbour vibe of Rotterdam taught me to look beyond facades and discover the unseen and beautiful small bits of everyday life.

Maja Liro

Ciao! I'm Maja - an Architect, Student, Editor, Bartender, Delivery Girl, Skipper, Animator, Drawing Teacher and Climber, among other things. I was born in Poland, but for several years I haven't been there for more than two weeks. Usually you can find me either at work or in nature, following my strong conviction in building as well as living in unity with the environment. I laugh more than I do not, finding humour in nearly all situations. If I succeed at properly expressing myself, perhaps you'll find bits of my whimsical storytelling on the pages of Bnieuws. Until then!

Saartje Nibbering

Bachelor in Architecture

Saartje Nibbering

Hello, my name is Saartje! I'm a Dutch student doing my bachelor's degree in Delft. During my first bachelor's degree in Philosophy, I gained an interest in architecture. Whilst thinking about ways to leave the world a better place, learning to create something that will last a long time sounded relatively attractive ;). However, as someone with a philosophical

background, I want to underline the depth that exists in all we are given to learn and experience in architecture (and life!). Now, I may appear to be overly analytical and cerebral (which I am not), yet I enjoy to "dwarrel" through life and finding contentment in simplicity, nature, and writing.

Sem Verwey

Master in Architecture

Sem Verwey

Hello, my name is Sem. My father introduced me to making, and my mother to understanding. This led to me being specifically interested in Architecture, but more generally in other sciences and artforms such as philosophy, film, music and painting. I hope to end up in a place where I can combine all these things, in order to make and understand.

Tuyen Le

Master in Architecture

Tuyen Le

Hi y’all, I’m Tuyen (Twin) and I’m Vietnamese. I finished my bachelor in the US and now I’m here, studying and riding my bike around Delft. A passion I have outside of architecture are pottery (love getting my hands dirty) and graphic design (quirky visuals is my vibe). Since I’m a curious and person, sometimes speaking about things alone is not enough, so I seek out writing to express my thoughts. I hope our issues will engage you in more exploration in life, design, and art. Catch me outside and inside the pages of Bnieuws!

Hi all! I’m Zuza. I grew up in Poland, found my passion in busy Hong Kong, became an adult and found love in cloudy London, and currently, I’m living my best retirement life in glorious Delft (not really retired yet, working on my archi masters)! My heart lies close to all dumpling, noodle and mapo tofu related topics. At the faculty, I will bore you about Chinese urban space transformation, but in life, my biggest dream is to start my own tea house with herbal drinks to cure people’s sadness, educate them about health and help our planet. Hope to see you there one day! Until we get there, let’s meet on the pages of bnieuws articles!
